THINK ABOUT IT!

                                    TAKE A LOOK,

                                             DIG A LITTLE DEEPER…

THINK ABOUT CHANGES YOU WANT TO MAKE

 Checklist: Choosing a Volunteer Project

Fill out this checklist to help you identify your interests, time requirements and skills. Then use the information to find a volunteer job or to create one that is a good match for you.

-List your hobbies, interests and skills. Would you like to use any of them in a volunteer job? What kinds of activities have you enjoyed in the past?

-Would you like to learn any new skills?

-Why do you want to be a volunteer?

-Have you done volunteer work before? What did you like or dislike about the experience?

-How much time do you have to offer? Can you make the time commitment?

-Do you want a short-term or long-term project?

-When do you want to volunteer? (Evenings, weekends?)

-Do you enjoy working one-to-one with people, e.g. mentoring, tutoring?

-Do you prefer working with a group of volunteers?

-Do you like working inside or outside?

-Other things to consider…what social action interests do you have? (Environmental, working with youth and families, political, working with animals, sports/health, theater/acting out important messages, health concerns- cancer, heart disease, diabetes, etc.)

-What organizational skills would you need?

-What would you like to see improved or changed in the world?

-Do you have a special mission?

-Does this idea motivate you to keep actively participating?

-Does it attract others to do the same?

NOW THAT YOU HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT IT, GO OUT AND DO IT!
