Awarded to: Meghan S. & Emmanuel United Church
The Youth Theater group gave proceeds of their production to help Brittney who suffered from severe brain trauma.
“On behalf of the Youth Theater Ministry at Emmanuel United Church I would like to thank you for the matching grant award. This is our 7th year of working together.
“This year’s performances were very successful. There were about 125 people at each night’s show. We raised a total of $803 with the free-will offering taken during the shows. The entire amount plus your grant will be donated to the Bring Brittany Back Fund to help Brittany’s family with the cost of putting a wheelchair-accessible addition on their home.
“Through this ministry we have learned a lot about theater, but most importantly we have learned the meaning of helping other kids.
“It is a good feeling to know that we can make a difference. In the past we have raised money for many youths. We have benefited a young girl who is battling brain cancer; we have supplied one of our teen members with medical and sports supplies to take to a village in Mexico and we have helped a local boy who needed a liver transplant. This year our goal is to raise money for a 15-year-old girl who was struck by a car last fall, suffering severe brain trauma and who was in a coma for 7 weeks. She and her family will really benefit from the wheelchair accessible addition. Her goal is to get back to school in September. This grant will really help us to help this family.”
