June 2015- Saratoga Children’s Theatre – New Kid Production
The Saratoga Children’s Theatre presented the grant proposal of ‘The New Kid’ Production to the Advisory Board. Youth2 was so excited about ‘The New Kid’ production, an anti-bullying program to be offered to schools in Saratoga County that $1000 was happily granted.
March 2015 – Hokies for Hanbury
Hokies for Hanbury – The was a grant where the Alternative Service Breaks Program volunteers of the YMCA at Virginia Tech worked at the Hanbury Home Orphanage in Mandeville, Jamaica. Youth2– Youth Helping Youth collected $2,191.61 for Injury Prevention and participated in a 5K Walkathon held in Toronto on May 5, 2013. May 2013-Alopecia Areata Foundation walkathon at SPAC
This very successful event organized by 14-year-old Clara Urbahn raised over $7,500.00 for the National Alopecia Areata Foundation. The purpose of the event was to raise awareness of Alopecia Areata, an autoimmune disorder that makes one lose their body hair. The monies raised from the fundraiser went to the National Alopecia Areata research program.
Nov 2011-Kagoma Gate School
Deirdre Howard wrote this grant with the help of the Teen Board of the Giving Circle to help youth build a foundation of fundraisers over the year to both send youth to northern Uganda to help build the Kagoma Gate School. The fundraisers assisted in the purchase of swing sets for the school grounds.
